What Refined FI is, what it is not, and how much weight its numbers can carry.

Effective date: May 22, 2026 · Last updated: August 14, 2026

The short version

Refined FI is education, not advice. We are not a registered investment adviser and we are not your fiduciary. Nothing here is a recommendation to buy or sell anything.

Our calculators respond to the numbers you give them, but no one here evaluates your complete situation. Our indicators can be wrong, early, or late. They are signals, not protection.

The author may own the investments discussed. All investing carries risk, including losing money.

This page is the long version, and the long version is what legally applies. Questions about any of it: contact us.

Educational purposes only

All content published on Refined FI, including but not limited to articles, model portfolios, allocation models, calculators, indicators, downloadable resources, and member materials, is provided for educational and informational purposes only. It does not constitute investment advice, financial advice, trading advice, tax advice, or any other kind of professional advice.

Our calculators and tools respond to the inputs you supply, and their output is math applied to your numbers. That is not the same thing as advice: Refined FI does not evaluate your complete circumstances, and no calculator result is an individualized recommendation.

Nothing on this site should be construed as a recommendation, solicitation, or offer to buy, sell, or hold any security, financial instrument, or account type.

Not a registered investment adviser

Refined Abundance LLC, publisher of Refined FI, is not registered with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission or with any state securities regulator as an investment adviser, and is not registered with FINRA as a broker-dealer. It is not a financial planner or any other type of regulated financial professional.

No fiduciary duty and no advisory relationship is created between Refined FI and any reader, subscriber, purchaser, or member, now or at any time.

No guarantees, past performance

Portfolios, allocations, and strategies discussed on Refined FI may reflect real holdings and real historical performance. However, past performance does not guarantee, predict, or imply future results.

Some figures on this site are derived from backtested or hypothetical models. Backtested results have inherent limitations: they are constructed with the benefit of hindsight, do not reflect actual trading or real capital at risk, and do not account for all fees, taxes, or market conditions. Actual results would have differed, possibly materially.

All investing involves risk, including the possible loss of some or all principal invested. You may lose money. No representation is made that any strategy, portfolio, or investment approach discussed will achieve profits or avoid losses.

How Risk Monitor numbers are produced

Risk Monitor readings are calculated from third-party market and economic data, including public data providers whose figures we do not control. That data can be delayed, revised after publication, restated, or temporarily unavailable. When a source revises its history, past Risk Monitor readings can change with it.

Members see daily readings dated to the day they were produced. Public pages show monthly ranges, which are a summary and will not match a specific day's reading.

A reading is a snapshot of a model, not a measurement of the market. The model can be wrong. It will produce false alarms and it will miss real events. It is not a forecast, and a change in the reading is not an instruction for your accounts.

We do not guarantee that any reading is accurate, current, complete, or delivered on time. Refined FI is not liable for any decision made in reliance on a reading, including a reading that was delayed, missing, or later revised.

Historical readings are provided so you can judge the model's record. They are not a track record of investment results, and they do not reflect trading costs, taxes, or the price you would actually have paid.

Market signals and alerts

Refined FI dashboards, indicators, and email alerts are educational signals derived from market and economic data. Signals can be wrong, early, late, or change without notice. False positives and missed events will occur.

When guidance changes, we email members describing what changed in the model portfolios and why. That email is educational publishing about our models, not a personalized instruction: we do not know your accounts, your taxes, or your circumstances, and whether any model change makes sense for you is a decision only you, or an adviser who knows your situation, can make.

Delivery of any alert is not guaranteed. Email can be delayed, filtered, or lost by systems outside our control, and we do not guarantee that you will receive any particular alert or receive it in time to act on it. No signal is a promise of protection from loss.

Model portfolios

Model portfolios published by Refined FI are illustrations of an approach. They are constructed without reference to any individual's circumstances, and they are not personalized instructions for your accounts.

A model portfolio names specific securities and specific weights because that is the only way to illustrate an allocation honestly. Naming a security is not a recommendation to buy it, and the fact that a portfolio is described in concrete terms does not make it advice. Whether any holding is appropriate for you depends on facts about you that Refined FI does not evaluate.

Model portfolios may change. Changes are published to members and are not individually communicated, and we do not guarantee that you will see a change before you act.

Author holdings and conflicts of interest

The author may hold positions in securities, ETFs, or financial instruments discussed on this site. Content may reflect the author's personal investment decisions made for their own financial situation, risk tolerance, and objectives, which may not be appropriate for yours.

The author's positions may change at any time without notice.

Refined FI is funded by membership fees. It does not accept payment from any fund company, issuer, broker, or adviser in exchange for coverage, inclusion in a model portfolio, or favorable treatment.

Your situation is unique

Before making any investment, financial, or tax decision, consult a licensed and qualified financial adviser, CPA, or attorney who can evaluate your individual circumstances.

What works for one investor may cause harm for another. Refined FI content is not a substitute for professional, personalized advice.

Tax considerations

Discussion of tax-advantaged accounts, ETF structures, Roth conversions, asset location strategies, or other tax-related topics is general in nature and is not tax advice.

Tax treatment depends on your individual circumstances, jurisdiction, filing status, and applicable law, which may change. Consult a qualified tax professional before taking action.
