What this calculation assumes
Method: Real-dollar projection using Siegel's 1802–2021 long-run real averages (stocks --, bonds --, gold --, cash --).
Spending is held constant in today's purchasing power; other income (Social Security, pension) is assumed COLA-adjusted.
Withdrawal taken at the start of each year; return earned on the remainder. Projection capped at age 105.
Life expectancy: SSA life table from the -- Trustees Report, every age 0–119 (table year --)
(ssa.gov source;
all Trustees Reports).
Male and Female values are taken directly from the SSA-published table.
SSA tables describe the general U.S. population and may understate longevity for affluent / non-smoker clients by 3–6 years.
