What this calculation assumes

Method: Real-dollar projection using Siegel's 1802–2021 long-run real averages (stocks --, bonds --, gold --, cash --). Spending is held constant in today's purchasing power; other income (Social Security, pension) is assumed COLA-adjusted. Withdrawal taken at the start of each year; return earned on the remainder. Projection capped at age 105.

Life expectancy: SSA life table from the -- Trustees Report, every age 0–119 (table year --) (ssa.gov source; all Trustees Reports). Male and Female values are taken directly from the SSA-published table. SSA tables describe the general U.S. population and may understate longevity for affluent / non-smoker clients by 3–6 years.

The Refined FI portfolio line: the same spending, income and ages, run through the Refined FI portfolio for your burn rate on our server. Its holdings and return are not shown here.
